◊ Absurdity, insanity and genius look similar because people under their influence reason in ways that the rest of us don't understand. If you're not familiar enough with someone that you can sort them into the appropriate category -- goofball, loony or brain -- there's no way you can tell what breed of weirdness is going on in his head.
I will never know if the guy buying exactly 12 packets of instant ramen noodles and a bottle of rum at Safeway in the middle of the afternoon was a weirdo, a crazy or a future winner of the Nobel Prize.
